MAY AND JUNE NEWS
As promised, two months of news rolled into one. I have trouble remembering what I ate two days ago, but here it goes.
The NEW Ramp Riders decks and griptape are in! They are SWEEEEEEET! Check them out on the Ramp Riders Gear page. Ramp Riders grip tape is FREE with the purchase of any deck!
We have a NEW rhythm section done. It runs along the back wall off of the roll-in, next to the double-down and hip-up section. It feels a little tight at first, but once you get use to it, it’s FUUUUN!
Jeremy has moved on to bigger and better things and won’t be working at the park anymore, except for the occasional All Nighter.
We have a new employee / BMX team member, Justin “Lloyd “ Sexauer. He’ll be taking over Jeremy’s Saturday night shift. He’s a helpful guy and a good rider. When you see him; ask him to tell you a joke, and give him a Farmtown highfive. He’s also the Picture of the Month for June.
We have ANOTHER employee, General Jesse Lee Ramsey. For those of you who don’t already know Jesse, he moved to St. Louis from Springfield, MO last year. He’s a good rider, and a hell of a guy. He’ll be giving square dance lessons on Saturday mornings.
If you’re going to buy something from the proshop that you need put on your bike or board, Saturday is definitely the day to do it. Justin and Jesse are both certified BMX PLUS mechanics.
The RAD DVD party was fun. It had been at least 15 years since I last saw it. There were even a few people that hadn’t even seen it yet. If you want to see REALLY old school BMX, rent that movie.
The May All Nighter was packed!I haven’t seen that many bikers for a while. The Sobrosa Letum Street complete bike raffle winner was Jacob Ponseti. It couldn’t have gone to anyone more deserving. Jacob FREAKED OUT to say the least, when he found out he was the winner. I forgot my camera, but asked this dude take a couple of funny pics of Jacob. The dude never emailed them to me. So imagine someone with shaggy red hair and freckles, sticking his finger in a light socket, while standing barefoot on hot coals; and that’s what he looked like.
At the June All Nighter all of the BMXers talked Jesse into setting up the rezy on the box jump coming out of the vertwall. Everyone was going nutty. We decided to play the game of B.I.KE. on the rezy instead of the rest of the park. Quite a few new tricks were learned that night. I didn’t get to see the game of S.K.A.T.E. All of those jokers usually get pretty wild. I gave out free session passes, drinks, and t-shirts for the top five in each game.
Well, I dumped one whole days worth of lawns about a month and a half ago, and it rained enough to keep me behind the entire time. So, my one day a week to build down at the park, got absorbed by my lawn schedule trying to keep it on track. It looks like the rainy season is finally over, and now I can get back to building with Scott.
